Position: Garden Center Associates
Full-time and part-time Retail Greenhouse Associate positions now available at Hong’s Landscape & Nursery, Inc.. If you love working with people and plants, this is the job for you! Basic Functions: High energy entry level position providing exposure to many exciting aspects of Hong’s Landscape & Nursery, Inc.
Garden Center Associates are an incredibly important and valued part of our team, supporting departments throughout the store and providing an unmatched customer experience.
General Responsibilities:
1. Engage and interact with customers to guarantee their success. Assist customers above all else – if you do not know the answer to a question, find someone who does and relay information back to customer
2. Professionally answer phones
3. Care for plant material – water, clean, etc.
4. Unloading and loading of trucks carrying plant material, hardgoods, customer deliveries, etc.
5. Apply price tags to plant material before it is put out on the retail sales floor
6. Work on daily worklist provided by managers
7. Restock greenhouse items from back area as needed
8. Help keep greenhouse buyers/management informed when running low on plant material, pottery, etc
9. Cleaning and clerical tasks (including, but not limited to; sweeping, stocking tables and shelves, emptying trash, cleaning restrooms)
10. Maintaining cleanliness as a point of attention throughout the store
11. Carry product to parking lot and load into customer cars
12. Restock carts and baskets for customer use
13. Operate a lawn mower, leaf blower, and other basic power tools (e.g. drills)
Applicant Requirements:
1. Ability to lift a minimum of 25-50lbs repeatedly each day
2. Ability to stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day with minimal breaks
3. Ability to work in any weather condition, including extremes (e.g. hot and dry, wet and cold)
4. Comfortable in a high-paced setting
5. Be a team player
6. Willing to be coached and learn new things daily
7. Willing to help in any department where team support is needed, as directed by leadership
8. Spanish speaking a plus but not required.
9. Valid Drivers license

This is not a leadership role
Typical work hours are Monday – Saturday 8am to 6pm. We are closed on Sundays.
Job Types: Full-time and/or Part time
Salary: Positions starting at $11-15 per hour. Compensation for all positions is negotiable based upon experience and qualifications.
